Artist - Brendan McAlinden

Brendan McAlinden is a Chicago artist, self-taught in painting and officially trained in music (with a focus on percussion). A lifelong resident of the South Side, his paintings have been featured in numerous shows. His work is highly recognizable for its use of bright colors and the strange figures (aliens? holy men?) and faces that populate the range of materials he refers to as “canvas”: discarded cardboard, old order sheets from the pre-internet days of the Board of Trade, and scavenged wood. After seeing his paintings, you’re likely to recognize pieces adorning the walls of your favorite breweries, restaurants, and cafes, particularly if you find yourself south of Madison Avenue.
