Artist - Jorge Torres Galvão

Jorge Torres Galvão is a self-taught Brazilian artist who has been painting the streets of Curitiba, Florianópolis, and São Paulo since the age of 14. We are excited to make his work available in the U.S. for the first time. His brief time studying at the Escola de Música e Belas Artes do Paraná in 2001 marked the beginning of a series of experiments combining graffiti with illustration techniques, collage, and painting on canvas. More recently, Jorge has worked with discarded materials, inspiring 3D pieces and creating sculptures and installations using “trash.” Selected exhibitions include group shows in Brazil, Germany, Lithuania, Belgium, Spain, and Mexico. We fell in love with Jorge's art in the south of Brazil, where the frequency of walls adorned with his strange, expressionless (dumb? judgmental?) faces signals that his artist’s lair is nearby. We believe his work deserves to be on many more walls—not just ours, and not just in Brazil.
